Here's the case. It already has the whole car look too.

Here's the car I'm gonna model it after.

I will have to add the flat black to the case as the car actually has.

Sweet. :) It's gonna look good.

Just out of curiosity, were you inspired by the latest (Sept 06) Mod of the Month?

The top of that case is just screaming to be the 'hood' of the car (exhaust manifold for some water cooling maybe?). I like the color too.

The existing case top supposed to be a BMW?

I think BMW. I can cut inbetween the two grills to join them or I may go with this case instead.

I think I like the second case more. Looks like it would be more in line with the Dodge Super Bee 'look'. Either way you go, bet it'll turn out nice :)

Its a nice idea. How many projects have you got going thegreatsatan? It seems like every time i check out the mod forum you got a new idea. They are all great but is it not a big load?

Oh also the second case looks a little more like the muscle cars, they are more boxy, the second case would be good for an old 1930s ford, or buick, something with alot of curves and body styling

I agree with that, I will go with the second. ALso, I've got parts of about 4 projects going now. I don't think of it as a full load, because I usually I just work on one at a time. Some days I feel like doing something with my HD PC and others with CLOWNED.

I saw the Boss FX mod, he built that years ago, but it wasn't my inspiration. Actually I just finished building my mom's first computer, when I realized that my in-laws still have a 500MHz piece of crap. To pick a theme to build on, I picked the one thing my father-in-law loves the most (besides his wife) cars.

Anyway....

Here's the plan. I will stick with the concept pics case, but it doesn't look like I can create a scoop, so....

I will cut a hole in the top of the case and mount an engine. It won't look like the car in the pic, but it will look beefed up. The engine below is the 427, not the 383 that the car has, only better. Like many classic muscle cars, this case will appear to have been upgraded to an engine so big that it sticks out the top of the hood.

Image

The engine has moving parts too. If you move the geer here:

Image

It spins the fan here:

Image

So if I tie in a small fan (say 40mm) I can get this engine going!

It will be motorized by moving the back gear. I'll probebly use an old 20mm fan that was once for the Northbridge chipset.

and....

Since this is a dodge theme, I got the 426 dodge engine instead.. I swear I'm gonna go broke long before I can buy a single PC component.

I'd take another dead HDD, one which has a working motor, mod it into the engine, and connect it to a molex. That's what I'm gonna do when I actually get around to my Blackhawk mod (in probably a year or two :D).

Here's pics of the components. I said earlier that I had a Seagate 80GB, but was mistaken; it's a Maxtor 80GB Diamondmax 16.

Here's the modem.

And the Opteron

Today I got the bee decal

And the SuperBee emblem

I got the case in the mail and as you can see it's not nearly as bright of a green as the website showed. But that's great, because it's even closer to the color of the car!

Also, I tested the engine spinning idea with the use of an 80mm fan and it just doesn't have the torque to spin it. There's more ways ahead.

Here's some updated concept pics.

I took the windowed panel off and disassembled the fan and grill. As you can see they added this nice little piece of mesh too. I won't be reusing the grill, but I do like the mesh.

Image

Another nice feature is the removable mobo tray.

Image

The right panel has an awfully convenient place for the "HEMI" window.

Image

And as you can see I've already begun the painting.

Image

Image

Here's the paint I'm using. A nice flat black.

Image

I also cut a small angle to show the bend of the stripe.

Image

Image

The stripe on the left is done.

Image
Image

And I sketched out where the HEMI window will go.
