Hey all, let's get some life back in MPCforums. Come on, show off your PCs. That includes you Folders hanging out in the basement. Doesn't matter if it's not a true "maximum" PC either.

I'll post some when I get home.

Nice, Latios. You build just as you preach. Is the cable management in the Prodigy terrible? It looks pretty cramped in there or maybe you got to work on that.

I took pics yesterday but didn't get time to post it...maybe later today.

There's a few nooks and crannies that you can stuff cables in, so it's not all that bad. Though I do believe having a modular power supply is a must. The PSU compartment was getting a little too full and all I have in there are the main power cables, the two PCIe cables, and two SATA power cables.

Oh, that's what that area is. Is the mobo placed over the PSU area?

It looks like its guts are spilling out :D

Yes. And I had to open it up from the "front panel" side, because there's no other view that's good :<

Alright, now my turn.

Family Rig (my first build)
Image

Image

It a bit dusty, but no big deal. I blocked out the side panel fan holes and added a special quick release to pop out the front panel without removing the other side panel (a big headache on this case).
Specs: AMD 1045T, Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3, OCZ Agility 3 SSD, Toshiba 1TB HDD, Gigabyte GTX550ti, NZXT Hale 82 650W PSU, Ubuntu OS

The Experiment (what I use to learn how to mod :D )
Image

It's a 10 year old Compaq that ran WindowsXP. I cut out a 120mm Fan hole in the front. I want to get rid of the plastic front panel and cover it with a piece of acrylic. Other future mods include case feet, case handles on top, moving Power button and activity LEDs to top of case. You can see my custom "sleeving", which is basically wrapping the wires with a special thread I have (its thick and strong). It runs XBMCbuntu but the AMD drivers for the card are a pain to install. I upgraded the Pentium 4 to a P4 Hyper Threading proc ($5 refurb from microcenter). Added a Corsair CX500 PSU (I had plans to make a bitcoin miner a while ago, but that didn't pan out. Picked up an open box Radeon 6450 for $30 from Microcenter so I can use this as a media center. I like the case, nothing fancy, but that steel is pretty tough, unlike my flimsy Antec 302.

Alright, where are the other folks?? Stop asking us build questions all the time. Show us the pics when it's done. And where are those wacky folding rigs?? Come on, people.

Because you know, showing your PC like that is like showing your wife naked. I guess.

There was some activity in the folding forums so I thought maybe I could get some of them to play along also. And, I've been thinking, MaximumPC has been doing that "mod of the month" but it seems the submissions are probably not coming through this forum. It's a shame, really.

Hey, phillyj. I don't usually swing through this neck of the woods. You should have said something down there in the dungeon. Lemur would probably show off his new rig here, there's a few new pieces of kit people might like to take pics of. Camera's broke on my phone, but if I can get some pics took I'll show off my ridiculous dusty dinosaurs, in all their side-panels-always-off glory. If jury-rigging is modding I might even have something that qualifies. I'll delete this post sometime in the future, or replace it with my pics.
