I've been into PC's for quite awhile now, and always upgrade something on my machine every 4-6 months... but i've never bothered with the asthetics before... was always proud of my frankclone LOL. Well, this week I went for looks & got a decent Aluminum case to move everything into. Now my beige drives stick out like a sore thumb. I was looking into bezels & have only been able to find lian-li ones to replace the bezels on my drives... hypothetically, a bezel is a bezel... but realistically, will they fit in my KINGWIN ALU KT-424-S SL ? The drives are an older TDK VeloCD & a generic DVD burner. Also an OLD generic floppy drive.

TIA,
Bill

Honestly I would just take the bezel and tray door off your opticals and give em a spray or 2 of a nice aluminum looking silver paint.

You could aslo try stealthing the drives with the drive bay covers from your case. I'm not familiar with your case, so I'm not sure how much of a hassle it would be. All you would need is some double sided tape and possibly some bending/cutting to trim off the front bay covers.

just a thought :)

...or skip trying to match aluminum bezels and go with the popular (easy to get) black ones.

Look into stelthing the drives - you will have to google. I haven't got much on the list for that.

rattle can 'em!!

I spray painted all my drives and they turned out great.

Mask the drive with some newspaper and tape. Then use a couple of THIN coats. Don't get too close or put too much at one time or it will drip and look like ass. Don't worry about getting full coverage on the first pass. It will cover completly and look better after a couple of coats. Try to space out your coats (like 30 min) to give them a chance to dry a bit. repeat until you get complete coverage or the desired look.

I found that you can do one or two really thin coats and have a matte type finish, or keep going and get a full glossy finish with additional coats of paint.

Let the paint dry COMPLETELY before installing them. Othewise you'll have some nice figerprint designs on your bezel. I let mine sit overnight and they were fine. most enamel based paints dry pretty quickly.

then use a paperclip to scratch off the paint on the LED if you wish.

2) http://home.hawaii.rr.com/cerealeater/HQ3.JPG

behind the faceplates i have these rubber bump things i picked up with the heavy duty hard plastic velcro from radio shack, so to open the drives all i need to do is to just press the corner and it opens..

Welcome to the forum

Take a few pics of how you did it and the finished product (your example pics are fine) and put together a short how to. I will post it in the MRL. PM me if you don't know what I am talking about

PS - Pics should be 640 or less wide - preferrably 600 or less.
