my Lyra had only 20gigs of storage space and was somewhat limited. So instead of buying another LYRA, I decided to pop open the case and do some simple engineering. Soldering had to be done because the battery pack was fixed ontop of the original hard drive, and 6, 1inch ground wires secured the HD to the mainboard, they were merely minor obsticles. In short, after cutting them off, I yanked the 20GB and installed a brand new 5,200 rpm, 100 gig drive to kick the IPOD's ass. Yeah!
These gadgets are so useful because you can store all your software and personal files so that they will be safe from accidental deletion, as compared to a hard disk being in docked in your tower 24x7. At the same time it's a portable Jukebox! Eat you heart out IPOD...
You've been spanked!
My next mod will be to change the internal battery so that i can extend the units playtime while unplugged.
i never thought about taking pics of the entire process, as this topic this was posted in "multimedia madhouse" right after I was done.
urmumsacow wanted some pics...here they are...
(BTW: i "freeze framed" the shots from my video camera, so just excuse the noisy image quality)
after adding a dozen songs and a bunch of software to test it out...
