So here is my idea. I have a 10.00 USB hub that I got from Kmart.

And what I want to do is take the guts out of it and mount it under the desk so it is flush with the desktop and I can plug my USB devices right into my desk.

Here are the guts of the hub:

I was surprised at how easily the casing just snapped right off.

Now what I was planning to do is use a PCI port cover for the "bezel"

The black lines are where I am going to cut with my dremel (excluding the squiggles on the left)

After if cut the metal I will spray paint it black, because that is the color of my desktop. Then if will solder the plate onto the sides of the sub ports.

Then I am going to drill a hole in the desk so the guts of the hub will be sticking out of underside of the desk and screw the plate onto the desk for a kind of "industrial look"

I have to do this tomorrow so if don’t wake my parents up with the drill. What do you think?

I like the idea - and it's even posted in a legible manner

I noticed that too

I like the idea. If I had more USB gadgets, I'd look into something like this too.

I think I am going try it on a piece of wood first to see if it works out.

Mount it over the sticker that should have been inside the desk in the first place. :)
