One could burn off quite the collection of episodes in MKV or AVI format, using that pretty BD writer :)

I just love this mod is functional. Which is a problem I see with many mods.

Thank you!

Finished the Enterprise inlay panels for both cases last night.

Just a reminder, MaxPC is having me build two of these, 1st is for David Gerrold, screen writer for Star Trek original series, 2nd to be given away at 2011 Comic-Con!

The trim piece for the Bezel, Hot Swap & Top compartment doors are being laser cut from 1/8" thick Red Opaque Cast Acrylic. We're using a single 75 watt, 24" x 18" Platform "Universal Laser Systems" machine. We use this unit for making retail PC fan and radiator grills. This unit if new, would be priced between $19K - $25K. We don't offer laser cutting as a service, but these guys do! Laser Cutting Service, Inc. offers custom laser cutting to PC builders, modders! hobbyists.

Yes, the design has good anti-vibration feature built-in...lol. Next step is making the "H" frame piece for the lower portion of the bezel, from 1.5" thick aluminum. This will have an engraved "David Gerrold" signature plate (white square, 2nd pic). Each of the cases will have two ICY DOCK MB877SK-B Tray-less Aluminum Body 3.5" SATA I, II & III Mobile Rack Removable Hard Drive adapters, behind a hinged access door (red square, 2nd pic) on the front of the case.

By request from David, two ICY DOCK MB877SK-B Tray-less Removable Hard Drive adapters... to store his Scripts? hmmm

I've loved almost all of your mods, and the fact that you always give mad credit to all those who help u when u need help on projects. I've loved all of your projects that I've seen, except for one, the Ghost Rider one, however it was still better than the movie in my opinion. It's a matter of personal taste, but 1 thing I did learn from you with that project, was about methodology in acrylic work. Thanks for being an inspiration, and that goes out to Bill and everyone else @ ModMen and mnpctech.com, as well as all of the fellow-collaborators and contributors. I hold you guys up to the same esteem as Defyant now, he's been my all-time fave modder ever, wish I could find him in forums again, it's been a long time since I've seen anything new.

Ugh, that GR movie was a clunker...

You're welcome, and I sure hope that's not true about Defyant, unless he has resisted the addictive force of it, lol. Us not hearing or seeing anything however would insinuate he did fall into it's dark clutches though :( .

As for GR, very much QFT, but supposedly they're working on a sequel that's supposed to fix all the retardation that the 1st one had, lol. I sure hope it's true, I really like GR as a character and the comics surrounding him.

I was hoping Nicolas Cage wouldn't be in it....lol. I used to read the comic as well.

Back to the project, the first of 2 lower half of the front bezel is finished. Next step is making the upper half and the compartment door covers.

Finished the front Hot Swap bay compartment doors last night. These will be hinged with 1/8" rod. The 1/8" Opaque Red acrylic plates will attach to the back side of the door. Still need to make door handles.
