Well It's complete...

you can see the pics and movies on my site...
www.dragonsteel.us Goto the Clear HDD Mod page..

I replaced the lid of a WD Caviar 1.8gig drive I had lying around, I wanted to see if I could do it.....

and It only took 2 days......

and I know it could be better, but it is a crap drive, and I just wanted to see if it could be done actually, and work correctly, and learn a few things along the way, before I decided to do something like this to a 'real' hdd!!

The movies on there are tiny, my stupid webhost let's me choose the size of the clip, but then just re-sizes it back to TINY... so I did include d/l links, moves are 21mb, and 10mb, so 56k SORRY...

You really should just put links to those movies, rather than embedding them into you web page. That's why some of your images are taking so long to show up.

Aside from that it looks like a cool project to do with a crap hdd. Not sure I'd want to risk a nice hdd for the idea, but cool nonetheless. I had thought about trying this on an old 8 Gig'er I had lying around, but alas I'm not sure what I did with it.
