I have a Dell d600 it is 1.4 GHZ i also have 512MB of ram, the ram is 587MHZ. I have like a gig and a half of free space on my hard drive. Can some one tell me how to speed of my computer. It takes about 5 minutes to load and then the computer is still slow. The games i play are like cabalas hunting 2006 well that game half works and my system meets all the requirements.

Windows uses something called a page file system to act as ram and when your drive gets below 10% free space as you have, the system slows way down as per your new experience.

If the operating system is XP, go to windows explorer and right click on the C drive, click on Properties, click on disk cleanup, click on more options, choose the last option (You can free up more space by removing all but the most recent restore point)and then click Clean-up. If you have never done this I wouldn't be surprised if you freed up 20 gigabytes.

Sounds like you are running Windows XP or Vista. They will never run fast with only 512 MB RAM. Install Linux and your computer will run like a rocket. Or try a Linux Live (no need to install) and your computer will boot in less than 3 minutes with thousands of programs ready to use.

Try Knoppix, PCLinuxOS or Dyne:Bolic.

This will negate his games, though. Especially the Cabala one that he plays.

I think also you need to free up some hard drive space. Once a hard drive gets to about 90% full, it starts to slow your system down. You could get a hard drive, and some ram, but in all honesty I think you should save fora new PC.

CCleaner is a good place to start, and free up some HD space.
