Have a new WD Raptor 74gig SATA, put along with my IDE drive, cloned with Ghost. When I boot the drive up, it stays stuck at the Windows XP logo with blue background (right before it says Welcome).

Am I doing anything wrong?

You mean outside of not having the serial ATA drivers isntalled??

Honestly, this might not be best situation for using cloning software.

Maximum PC encountered the same problems. It has something to do with the software having conflicts with the SATA controllers.

As far as I know, there's not much you can do about it.

sorry man...

I would forget even doing what you did. Just setup in the BIOS to set the CDROM as your primary boot device. save/exit. Then go ahead and put in the XP cd, boot off that. When it gets to the prompt to insert a floppy for SCSI/RAID device drivers, press whatever keyboard button and insert your floppy and go on your happy ways on XP install.

To add to Deject's post, MaxPC evidently had success only with Drive Image 2002 when cloning to a SATA drive.

I'm w/ Wise, backup what you need and start fresh.

Boot to your XP disk and do a "repair", have your SATA drivers on a floppy and load them when prompted.

Nasty
