Is there any way to prevent this shit from being installed on your machine? Instead of having to use programs to remove it after it gets to your comp!? :(

im using spybot and it comes with an immune system called spyblaster i think. spyblaster has a database of spyware and spyblaster prevents those spyware out there from getting installed on your computer.

SpyBot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org) has 2 resident processes that helps to combat the Spy/Ad-ware problem. One of them is TeaTimer, which blocks known Spy/Ad-ware downloads. The other is SDHelper, which blocks a multitude of known Spy/Ad-ware processes from running on your system, as well as protects your system settings and startup configuration.

In addition to that, I also reccomend running Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoft-usa.com) at least once a week.

Using this strategy, as well as a popup blocker (http://www.mozilla.org or http://www.crazybrowser.com) as greatly improved my online computing experience.

You don't actually have to 'download' something to become infected. I just checked someones computer - she uses IE and wouldn't even know how to install anything. There are literally 100's of spyware... nevermind, over 1000! This sucks. I'm going to have to throw something at her when she comes in on Monday - I told her to stop using that crap. :x

My PT. exactly... They're too damn dumb to know that "Would you like to install the eventful and advantageous programs of COOLWEB BROWSER, GAIN NETWORK'S GATOR, SEXLINKS, ETC. ETC.?" are BAD BAD BAD things, so they just click "yes yes yes! I must have them all because the popup said I must..."
