Maximum PC

my friend has hp pavillon 6835 and wants a new proc in it...it is a P3 socket 370 w/ a 100mhz FSB...they say it can support up to a 1gig P3, but it is cheaper to buy a P3 1.13g w/ 133FSB...i assume the 1.13 will be able to run at 1gig w/ 100FSB, but i have never tried it before...am i correct or do i just need to pay more for the 1gig proc? thanxs!

Check the hp site and see if there are any bois upgrades and what they bring with them. I do not beleive your motherboard will support a 133 fsb cpu.

well, the only processors i have any experience with is amd's...and i know u can run them at slower speeds no problem (like at a 100fsb instead of 133), i assume Intel's P3s would be the same, but i have never delt with them before so i thought i would check first...

The fastest 100FSB Processor you could put into that would be the Celeron 1.4GHz. This was the final speed bin for S370.

Note: These "Celerons" (1.0GHz and higher) all have 256k onboard L2 Cache. So for all intent and purposes, they are P-III's.

you're going to need an adapter to use a tualatin celeron 1.2MHz on that motherboard(i810)
