i tried using windows files/setting transfer wizard found in the acc/sys tools/ and had my settings and files sent over to another computer on my network

the initial plan was to reinstall windows as the computer became unstable

i reloaded xp and now i can't get the files back onto the computer it says not enough disk space but there was <4 gigs of data

so i tried running the file/setting wizard on another computer and transfer the files there but i get the same msg.

the files are several years worth of pic/music/word docs so i really need to have access to them

is there a third party app that will let me extract the file manually like a zip folder

the file type extension is *.dat

its in a folder called usmt2.unc and the files in the folder are img00001.dat and img00002.dat and a status file

 i really want my files

after doing a little research i found out microsoft does indeed have an app that will manually let me extract the *.dat files

the app is called fastconv but is unavailbe for public download and must be requested via calling microsoft

I refuse to pay microsoft $35 for a file i should be able to have acess to

does anyone have a link or the file fastconv not to be with a image converter which i've found online

if you do have the file plz send to dayvideg@excite.com

i'm confused. you're just looking to transfer files from one computer to another?

why not just copy and paste if you got them networked? i've never ever used that File Transfer wizard.
