Hi, I have a problem with burning DVD+R. Before, I created a video and was able to burn it to a DVD+RW many times after the disc is erased, but when I repeat the procedure for the DVD+R, it doesn't burning successfully. At first, I thought that I was burning the disc too fast, but it still fail at lower speed. So I inspected the failed disc. I found that my DVD combo drive did complete the burning of the video; however, I believe that the remain information needed in order for the DVD to run was missing. Since I used Nero 6.0, it supplied me with error messages that I don't understand.

Also, I don't quite remember what the error messages were:

It should be one or more of the following:
Could not perform StartTrack
Could not perform EndTrack
Could not perform Fixation
Could not perform end of Disc-at-once
Error building internal Disc-at-once structures
Could not perform StartDisk
Could not perform StartSession
Could not perform start of Track-at-once
Could not perform EndSession
Could not perform EndDisk

Oh, yeah. When I get information about the failed disk using Nero InfoTool, I found that the DVD+R has zero MB of capacity and has no information attached to it--No tracks, sessions, medium info, title, or any other information is found.

Can anyone tell me what I did wrong or forget to do?

I would suggest to get the latest firmware revision for your burner and if it doesn't work maybe try another brand of media; some burners are a little picky. Good luck! :)

Dude I have totally the same problem with my cd-rw burner. The only thing that I could find on the net is that the laser is dirty. So you can try getting one of them fancy laser cleaning kits.

Also I notice alot of people have been having the same problem since up grading to Nero 6. I think it might be something in the software too bud. But I can't say. Keep it real dude

Ummm...someone please slap me with a trout if I'm wrong, but...

RW allows you to write many times on one disc, while R only allows one write. Sure this erase & write should work perfectly for a RW disc as that's what it's supposed to do. But once you erase an R disc, that should be it. Done, Kaput, throw it away.

RW=rewriteable R=write once.

*Lord, I'm trying really hard to obey rule number three. Amen.

i think what he means is that he has no problem burning it to an RW disk, but has errors when he uses R disks. But yes chumly, you are correct.

Now to the problem, i would suggest updating the firmware, Nero, and possibly the drivers for your DVD burner. If that dont work, then im guessing your burner just does not like the media you're using. Try using a different brand. after that, i dont know.

But, if he's still erasing his CD-R's when he puts them in, he's formating and closing the disc out. It won't write after it's closed. No need to erase the disc where CD-RW's sometimes need formated or erased prior to writing to them.
