I accidentally deleted a file I didnt want to delete.
I did a SHIFT+DEL.

How do I get it back? A no cost solution would be best.
Thanks.

I already tried that.

I even tried starting a new file, but as soon as I set up all my accounts and whatnot I pops up with the error again.

I left MS Money a year ago, when I realized it would never stop crashing. I would suggest investing a little (I know you said free fix) and getting Quicken. It is way teh better.

So MS Money has been being a bitch and everytime I start it, it gives me an error and shuts down. It worked fine last night, for the past two weeks, etc etc.

In any case, I accidentally deleted a file I didnt want to delete.

What's the error?

If you deleted the file, check to see if it had a backup save otherwise I'd say you're SOL

I dont give a crap about Money or Quicken at this point.

I need the file back (a non-Money file).

Shiftey and Monkey, try re-reading my original post, maybe you will understand my actual question.

How big is the file? The trial version of Quetek's File Scavenger will recover files up to 64KB, and it works extremely well:

Its greather than 64KB :\

I tried Restorer 2000 or something like that and it had the same size limitation for the demo :\ It saw the file though.

I just dont want to pay $39+ to recover a SINGLE file. Its not THAT important, it just has all my usernames and passwords for all the forums and webpages and whatnot in it...
I mean its important...but not $40 important.

Tartar sauce. :(

You may have already given Logik's listings a peak, but if not, he's got a handful of data recovery links in there. You may luck out and have one of them give a bigger size restriction? I'll dig around a bit, but I'm not likely to stumble upon anything you haven't found yourself.

Yeah, maybe so.
I think if there is one with a 128KB+ size limit, it will work...

Well I looked at all the ones in Logik's links.

Either the Demos dont recover the files at all, or they dont recover files larger than some insanely small file size (one wouldnt do anyhting under 2KB).

Go to simtel.net and look for a program called Handy Recovery. There is version 1.0 and 2.0. 1.0 is freeware and is a data recovery program. A program like this is your best chance.

Handy Recovery looks promising. From my reading on their site, it looks like you can recover 1 file per day on the trial version (no mention of file size), and also they link the freeware version of 1.0. Well done baldeagle!

Go to this web site and you'll be able to recover NTFS files for free but only if they doen't exceed a certin limit, they you have to buy but still very cheap.
