I recently received an HP Pavilion from an aunt, which would be the only source of hardware I have since I am broke. She had ME installed, so before I even blinked I reformatted the HDD. My dad got me a copy of Windows 2000 NT and I put it in the optical drive, then booted the computer. It said something about checking the drives and setting up the computer, when all of a sudden it stopped, it was still in MSDOS. The text said, type help to veiw the help file. Which I did. All it was was help for Windows ME, for after it is installed, which didn't make any sense, since I had the 2000 CD in the drive. I am sure I fully reformatted the HDD. Also, MSDOS wont accept any other command than help. Can anyone help em with this?

When you boot to the CD, it will enter the Windows setup. Here it will ask you what you want to do. Choose install. Then it will check the drives and find the hard drive. If it does not get this far the hard drive could be damaged.

If it does see the hard drive, it should give you an option to reformat it. You need to format it NTFS for Windows 2000 to work best. Try this and see how it works.

Your BIOS appears to be attempting to boot the HDD, you'll have to change that so it looks at the CDROM first.
