Hey Fokes,

Can someone tell me how to create a bootable CD using Easy CD Creator 6? I basically want to create a boot disk but using a CD not a floppy. My PC does not have a floppy drive.

I tried using BARTS instructions but it never works or I just don't understand what he is talking about.

I want to use the CD to do bios updates or just boot systems if needed.

Thanks

I *think* it need to be an ISO image you burn. Is that what you are doing?

I have had all kinds of trouble with this in the past and I think it was because I was trying to use a non-ISO image. The Roxio stuff you have will burn ISO images

Can you tell me how to do this? I have Nero on another machine as well but prefere to use the cd creater 6.

Don't really care if it is an ISO or general files. Maybe someone can just create an ISO for me and I can download it from this forum?

Under creator classic (which for version 6 might just be "Creator") there should be an option under "advanced" someplace that says "make a bootable disk". It may ask you to make a boot floppy first.

Try that

I use version 7 - but I think they are functioanlly similar.

DoH!

I didn't see you have no floppy (for shame!)

Well, it does allow you the option I believe to move the file(s) to the harddrive and record from there - but its more complicated. Now I see why you are having trouble.

I am not a pro at this - maybe someone will help you - watch the thread. I am sure you can do it - but I can't finger how ATM. You have to have a .ini file to burn to CD.

Sorry man - I missed the no floppy part.

Can't believe no-one has posted. This can't be that hard.

Here are the instructions - but they won't work without the floppy or a floppy image on your disk. If someone would post "how to build a floppy image on your HD", this should work.

Code:
Making a bootable disc with Creator Classic
To make a Bootable Disc:
In the Advanced Projects task pane, click Bootable Disc.

The Choose Type of Bootable Disc dialog box appears.

In Emulation Option, select from the following:
Generate Image from Floppy: Select this option to create a bootable disc from a bootable floppy. To use this feature, you must have a bootable floppy disk.
Use Existing Image File: Select this option to create a bootable disc from an existing image file. To use this feature you need a bootable image on your hard disk. Click Browse to search for you bootable image.
Click OK. Follow any on-screen instructions that may appear.

When the Bootable disc project appears, use Creator Classic as you normally would for making a data disc.

Note: When the disc has been burned, take it to the system you want to boot from. Make sure it has bootable disc support enabled, insert the bootable disc in your CD or DVD drive, and reboot the system. If you are able to start your system from the bootable disc, you have successfully made a bootable disc.

SOrry I am not much help.

But you get a bump :)

BTW, you do have the BIOS set to boot from CD right?

I just read Bart's instructions. They are pretty good (a bit overcomplex). He tells you how to make an ISO. Have you gotten that far?

If you can make the ISO, you can burn it with EZ-CD Creator versions 5 and up.

With some creative searching on Google I found this website and I even went directly to the instructions for CD creator 6 so that it would change the url properly.

Just curious, Any particular reason you don't want to just install a floppy drive. You can get them for around $10 on line.

hey flipper....if all you need is to get into DOS and flash your BIOS...go here its just a win98 boot CD but it will get you into DOS.....but it will not read an NTSF partition. if it dont work tell me and i will make a new .iso file

and this
is a .iso file made from a XP boot floppy, but for some reason it wont let you access an NTFS partition..WTF?

(NOTE:BOTH .ISO FILES WILL BE DELETED ON 9/5/04)
