Hi all, have a co-worker that has a older system, no longer boots up or any thing except one flash of the cd rw lights then nothing. Tried a second power supply (but due to what happened to the old system I think its dead also) How does one test a power supply without hooking it up to a system? doesnt want to buy a new PSU as this will be for her kid to play with once she gets a new system. Its a p4, cheap light power unit. The people who built it went out of busniess 2 years ago.

ATX PSU Test

it's a bit overpriced, as you can find them for much cheaper, but PC Power and Cooling is a brand you can trust.[/url]

Well, went to PC power & cooler site and they had a diagram that showes how to test the power supply. Used that and found it was fine, yet due to having two hard drives right togehter, (touching each other) found that heat failture was the problem, plus the older driver even had the wrond cable since motherboard did not even see the drive, installed a new (used drive I had left over from a old system) and with a format and fresh install got her up and running even upgraded serveral things for her son so his games play better. :D
