Nothing was sitting on the keyboard? Like a Cat maybe?

Anyway - since it won't boot - does it post? anything? (really do need to know this)

Could it have gotten a surge? Was there a storm?

Anyways, we need just a tad more info - like does it POST or does it beep on startup.

PS, on the slim chance that Gamerfreak is right, pull the sound card and see if it boots.

There was nothing on the keyboard. It will not post or boot. The digital readout on the board starts and stays at FF . It used to cycle through a series of alphanumeric characters before reading FF.

Thanks for your replies and for my backup pc. I almost sold it.

FF = 256 (actually, 255)

Don't know what that means. - possibly memory. DO you have the MB manual?

Anyways, since it won't post I think you are looking at:
Bad PSU
Bad memory module
Bad MB
or
Bad CPU

Do this I think:

Can you check another PSU? That would eliminate that right off.

Pull all unneed cards out and unhooking all drives and see if you get a post.

Then check the RAM by putting in just one module at a time (I am brain dead right now - but I think you can do that with your stuff - please check). If not switch the order of the modules and try to get a post.

Check the CPU HSF and make sure it is seated with good thermal compound (not dried out).

I am out of ideas after that - but I am kinda distracted so maybe more/better ones will come.

try opening your computer case and strippin the taking out the parts that are not needed for a computer to post. take out all your optical drives and even hdds. you only need the power supply, mobo, cpu, ram, and video to make a computer post. do this so you will narrow your problem down to one of these devices. could ge a dead power supply, test this first like someone said so you can rule this out.
