 Post subject: HArd Drive not working properly

Hi, Im new to forum and I'm interested on being part of the forum, anyway I have question my sister PC her Hard drive only works like this

if you mounted into the case the PC wont boot up, and if you put horizontal it wont either so I really need help with this guys thanks in advanced

The first thing I'd try, for a number of reasons, is a new cable. If the cable is damaged such that certain positions result in opens, that could cause a problem.

Other than that, I'd replace the drive. If you've got a way to get it working, as in the photo, use a disk image tool (Acronis works well, or many manufactures provide such tools on their sites) to grab all the data off it before it fails completely.

Go to the hard drive manufactures site and get the diagnostic program ISO file, make a cd and boot to it. Run the quick test first, then the long test. The program will tell you if the drive is failing or not.

Follow the advice above and install a new cable before you run the diagnostic.
