I recently installed a new SSD and I forgot to go into the bios and change it from IDE to AHCI mode. If I understand things correctly, I am not getting all the throughput that I would be getting in AHCI mode. I also understand that since windows is already installed, I really cannot just go into the bios and change it to AHCI mode. This should have been done before windows was installed. I understand that it is possible to make a registry change now, but I am not about to try that.
Here is my question. Since the change from IDE mode to AHCI mode should have been done before windows was installed, can I just do a clean install of windows again, and make the change to AHCI mode in the bios right before the install? I'm thinking that would work.
Can anyone tell me if that is correct? Thanks.
