Hey guys,

I have been running a shortcut to a .bat file which runs a .exe file in the command window as soon as windows launches. Since I started doing this I have encountered a weird problem. It will run no problem all day, if the machine reboots it starts up just like it should. The last 2 nights when I woke up the program was not running. NOt only was it not running, but the .exe file was not actually in the directory anymore it has been removed.

I am completely stumped as to why this is happening. I thought that maybe my antivirus (AVG Free) was doing it on some sort of automatic scan. I disabled and removed the antivirus yesterday and it was still the same when I woke today.

I tried looking through the event log but I am not sure exactly what I am looking for. From what I can see the machine did reboot.

Any thoughts? What can happen that would make windows delete a running .exe file?

Phad

If this is some custom program, then see about storing it somewhere else and see if the problem persists. If it's a program you installed, then reinstall it.

By storing it somewhere else do you mean on a different harddrive?

I have re installed many times. And of course pnce the .exe is gone I have to re install.

Anywhere else other than where you're installing it.
