I have no idea whats causing it. Its a fairly new rig, had it about 9 months now without any issues. There is no BSOD or any warning whatsoever. When it shuts down, it stays dead for a moment where i cant manually activate it, and then starts up by itself. The longest time ive had to wait for it to start back up again is about a minute or two, and during that time its completely dead. This happens a couple of times each night.

The cpu and gpu are overclocked, but temps are good, and the vcore is as well. Not to mention that ive been running the computer at this OC configuration for 8 months now without any issues at all. It resets at the oddest times too, mostly when im browsing around and doing almost nothing at all. For example, last night i played fifa 13 on it for a couple of hours without any restarts, so i dont think its related to overstressing. Ive tried doing the windows ram test, which found no errors.

The Event viewer says is about "Kernel-power", event 41 in task category 63.

Here is the log:

Well the only thing we can start doing is ruling out your configurations. Reset everything to default first. Sure you've kept it overclocked for 8 months, but you're still running the part out of spec.

I have had a similar problem and these could be the issues

1. Moisture

May sound bizarre but was my PC restarting intermittently. I then placed silion gel packets and miraculously it helped. Having said that, my PC was an old one. Don't think this would be common with new computers

2. Motherboard

A faulty motherboard may cause the PC to freeze or restart without warning.

You say your temps are ok, what are they? How are they being monitored? Are you sure they are accurate?

From what I can tell by googling the error you are having, it seems most have this with overclocking, or heat related issues.

I"d go with overheating too....more specifically the graphics card

Just happened again, with stock values on everything. Also, this time the computer wouldnt respond for like 10 minutes after the shutdown before starting itself back up.

I think your PSU is probably suffering from an ailing +5v rail. Check your PC Health Settings in the motherboard BIOS and see if the +5v rail is putting out the proper voltage (it should be within +.5% of the purported voltage.

Ah, well then in that case it's most likely the PSU. I would replace it but I wouldn't call it a day until you've done some thorough testing with a new one. So it would be a good idea to get a PSU from a store that has a decent return policy.

I too would guess faulty PSU as overheating usually doesn't come back on by itself after a minute or two. Still it would have been polite to have answered the questions about how the system was not overheating were determined.

OP had stated that the settings were reverted and that it was working fine for 8 months. There wouldn't be much of a overheating issue unless there was a catastrophic failure heat sink assembly or the computer is dusty as all hell or in a place where it can't breath. Also Intel parts are kind of resilient to catastrophic failures anyway. I've had plenty of CPUs go to 90C because of a botched heat sink install and if it's still relevant, this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y39D4529FM4 (disregarding any sort of flak that Tom's did on the AMD side).

As far as the power supply not responding for some time after shutting down, I've had power supplies do this on me and it was not because of overheating. Even if it was, then that means the power supply is failing and OP should replace it anyway.
