After a few hours, my pc is not shutting down completely but seems to be hibernating and the only way to get back in is to press any button, then an icon I have set for my self shows up in the middle of the screen with my username underneath and I press the icon and my pc's wallpaper appears.

I completely understand all of the available power options and went thru them all. They are all basically disabled and nothing should ever make my pc hibernate. Even went into advanced power options and disabled everything in there. Still, if there is no keyboard/mouse activity it will just "shutdown" and wait for me to "wake it up" though it shouldn't and I don't know why.

Running Windows 7.

You also have to make sure the options are set for all power profiles. If you set it for one and are not using it, it'll ignore what you set.

its also quite possible that its not a hibernate, but a blank screensaver that is set to display a logon screen on resume.

Disable Hibernate in the bios if you have the option to do so.
