Ok. so I bought a SanDisk cruzer orbit 32gb usb flash drive yesterday.
I pluged it into my computer and for the first time it was perfect.
I put in all the files I need onto the drive then have it unpluged.
plugged it back into the computer at night and the drive cant be regonized for 3 mins.
3 mins later the drive shows up and its empty. Not 0 / 32gb empty...but 0mb / 0 mb kind of empty.
so I did some researh.....went to device manager, have the orbit's driver uninstalled.
unplug then plug it back in, the flash drive immediately started to work again.....
I thought.....wooo...I fixed it.
but nope!!
The next unplug&plug did the same thing again. Which means I have to uninstall the driver everytime if I want to use it.
At first I thought it was my computer thats causing it. I have 3 other usbs laying around and none of them caused any problem.
hmm...so I thought...may be its the Orbit's problem? brought it back to the store have it exchanged for a new one.
and the same thing happens..........sigh...
I tried it on another computer the orbit was working perfectly fine......
so .... basically this is happeneing only on my computer with only curzer orbit...

I am running

CPU: i7 920,

Ram:12GB
OS: Win7 64bit

HELP!!!!

try another brand?

With an old socket 1366 system I would guess maybe it doesn't know what to do with a high density flash chip. Could try updating BIOS, drivers but typically support is built into OS so is it up to date as well?

I assumed you tried more than one USB2 port?

When you say you are unplugging it, are you actually stopping and ejecting the drive, or just pulling it out of the slot?

::EDIT::

Do you happen to live in the USA? I ask this because according to SanDisk, that drive is not yet available here in stores

"The Cruzer Orbit USB Flash Drive is currently available for in-store purchase in select Asia Pacific and Europen countries only; United States customers may purchase the Cruzer Orbit USB Flash Drive via the SanDisk online store."

Hi, thanks for taking your time to reply to my post.
Yes, I updated everything I could. BIOs, OS. I even have every usb driver reinstalled.
My mobo is Asus :Rampage II extreme.
Weird thing is...the PC I use in my office is running pentium 3 and the drive still works fine...

haha yes..I tried all 12 usb slots I have ...

I tried both. Stopping or yanking both does the exact same thing to me.

I live in Hong Kong and I got the flash drive off a legit SanDisk reseller.

Take it back if possible. If not, then crack it open and see if you got what you think you got.
