I've noticed that certain folders that I've created under the "Pictures Library" folder in Windows 7 won't open. These folders "only" contain JPEG images. The only way around this problem is to rename the folder to something I don't want, and this is more of a band-aid approach.

What I need to know is, what's causing this problem. Is this a bug within Windows 7? I never had this problem in Windows XP.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

They don't open up in what way? There's a few ways that folders won't open up in Windows.

When I double click on the folder or when I right click and select Open from the context menu. I'm pretty much locked out.

There's no message or something that is thrown when you do that?

Also can you access the folder from it's actual directory and not from Libraries? If you didn't muck with the settings, it's usually in C:\Users\[Username]\Pictures

Accessing the sub-folder the way you described it worked for me, but I still can't open it the way I did before. Something is locking me out. I'm only running NIS 2013 and I've completely updated my PC.

Try removing the directory from the library and re-adding it.

I moved the folders but ended up accidentally deleting them all. I freaked out but was fortunate enough to find a free restoration program that recovered all my pics. Phew!

I think the problem is the limitations Windows 7 places when you add or remove folders within Libraries. If one doesn't "register" the folders in the correct manner, certain folders will end up "locked". That's the only explanation I can come up with. For now, I'm going to "properly" include these pic folders within the Pictures library in the way Microsoft wants and see how that goes. I can open the folder I couldn't with no problems.

Anyway, thanks for all your help Latios. :)
