OK. So, i have had this problem for a while now and it has REALLY been pissing me off so help if you can. I have a good gaming laptop that I have had for a little over a year. I have played games fine on it for a very long time and have had no issues. However not to long ago I found an HDMI cable sitting around and decided to hook my laptop to my tv so I could get the "full gaming experience". For a while I could play games on my TV and on my laptop screen itself no problems, but then all the sudden i just couldnt play games off my tv. I can play pretty much any game with NO lag on my TV but when I try gameing on my laptop screen all my games lag. Even the games I could play before all this on my laptop are unberablely laggy and I DONT KNOW WHY. This really makes me mad because if i dont play on my tv which isnt always free I cant play games at all. plz help me.

Never had this exact problem, but I hate it when graphics aren't behaving like they should. Few ideas:

1. Make sure the resolution is set to your laptop's recommended resolution.
2. Search the manufacturer's forums (or search the internet) to see if someone else has posted a similar problem - hopefully, there's already a solution.
3. Uninstall the drivers, then install them (download the latest version before you do this)
4. Uninstall the GPU in the Control Panel and then reboot (the computer should recognize the GPU upon restarting and automatically load the drivers).

Hope this helps.

There may be an option to use TV or laptop screen in the video driver, check there and make sure the correct option is checked for what you are using at the present, laptop screen or TV. I have AMD GPU and it has an option in the driver to detect the display being used and a button to do this. I am sure Nvidia would have something similar.

Do as btdog suggested and make sure the resolution is set for your laptop screen.

I would not uninstall the GPU unless you know where to point the popup to to find the drivers.
