Hi everyone, I have an issue I can't seem to describe well enough to search for what is causing the problem and how to fix it. I seem to have a virus or something, however my f-secure virus program doesn't see anything.

Here's what's happening:

While surfing the internet whether it be chrome, IE, or Firefox...My cursor will randomly change to an arrow when I hover over clickable links and stuff. This let's me know whenever I click the button again it's going to give me a popup in a new tab. This pop up usually says something like "trusted offer from (whatever site I'm currently on)" This happens roughly 5-10 times during a 20 minute net surfing segment.

Can anyone tell me what is causing this and where/how to fix this?

Not sure if it helps any, but I'm running Windows 8 on a computer I built myself.

It would help if:
  • If this is website specific or in general
  • What this pop up looks like

Chances are it's just annoying ads.

You can run http://www.malwarebytes.org The FREE version and see what it says.

Maybe malware doing this to you.

Go into safe mode with networking, do as coastie65 says and download, install, update and run Malwarebytes. Download and run Smitfraudfix while in safe mode with networking. If it has an option to update itself let it. This app should remove any malware related to browsers that have your issue.

If this don't kill it get the Kapersky emergency disk from their website, it is free. Boot to it and run it. Now your system is totally inert and the antivirus program should find and delete the problem.

Keep us informed as to the outcome.
