I have two Galaxy GTS250's (2 way SLi configuration) and two Samsung SynchMaster SA550 27 inch monitors one connected to each card via HDMI.

Galaxy specification for maximum digital resolution for these cards is 2560x1600

Nvidia control panel is showing the maximum resolution as 1980x1080

i7950cpu @ stock speed
EVGA X58 SLI FTW3
Windows7Ultimate 64bit

Can I run these cards at their maximum resolution and if so how? If not. Why not?

Where are you seeing these support that resolution?

Everything I'm reading tells me that 1920x1080 is the right resolution.

I concur with Furball!

Why do you think you should be at a higher resolution? Your cards can push a higher resolution yes, but your monitor only supports 1920x1080. If you want to up the resolution, you need to have both screens, install and setup NV Surround, and I can't really tell from nVidia's site, but I dont think your cards support multimonitor SLI via NV Surround, so one will always show the destop, when gaming.

So with the last two posts basically: Read the manual of your monitor. If it only supports 1920x1080 maximum then that's the highest you can go to, regardless of how much the graphics card can output.
