Hey guys, I have a strange problem. I have an ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe that I have been running a pair of GTX-460's in for about 2 years with no problems. The other day I pulled one of them out, leaving only one in the system. Since then about half the time when I start the rig up I have no video. I then hard reset it and the video comes back to life on the next boot. I have completely disassembled it in a rebuild today, replacing the heatsink and installing an SSD, and when I started it up to install Win 7 Pro it did the same thing.

When I had it apart I blew out all the slots, video card, and everything else. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks in advance...:)

Did you shut off SLI in the video driver before pulling the second card out? There may be an option in the bios to boot to a single video card as well, change it to one card if it is there.

The video driver is smart enough to figure this out.

There is no BIOS option, and there never was. The closest thing was a little card that you'd have to flip if you were using SLI. But even then, this only configured the PCI-Express lanes, and this was all fixed by PCI-Express 2.0 (which this board has).

Still, it wouldn't hurt to reset BIOS to factory default settings. And I've taken it you've tried both cards and both DVI ports?

Actually I never had the SLI bridge on the cards. But I swapped the cards between the two rigs and each one works fine now. I have no idea why one cards didn't like this MB but has no problem with a P6T Deluxe, but I'm past the point of trying to figure it out...I'm just glad it works.
