I have a desktop with XP on it and am totally use to it.
I just bought an HP laptop with Windows 8 and am totally disgusted with it. I'm 60 years old and totally disabled but at least got some of my mind left.
Here is my question. I want to try Windows 7. What version should I buy, where should I buy it at, and how do I install it.
No, I am not going to ask anyone to come to my house and do it for me, but that wouild be my next step if anyone wants to!! LOL
Thanks for any help

With your PC powered on, insert the Windows 7 CD, the restart your system. While the system is booting up, you usually see a message on the screen to hit F2 for System setup or if you hit F12 for other options, sometimes it's the Delete key, all depends on the system. You want to get to your options menu that you can select the option to Boot from your CD drive. Windows should then startup and prompt you through the steps of installing Windows 7.

Or you can install Classic Shell or one of the many Windows 8 shell replacements.

Make sure that after you install Win 7 you keep running Windows Update after every time it requires you to reboot. Do that until there are no more updates. It may take several times and take much time. Be patient.

You can dump the whole metro thing with Ex7forW8 and have all the benefits of 8 with the look of 7. Check out this thread
