I am seeing repeated storahci and disk warnings (below) for a pair of Western Digital Caviar Black drives I used Windows to created a mirrored RAID for. These drives are used to storage data and do not have the OS installed on them (the Windows 8 Pro is on an SSD).

There warnings (samples below) tend to occur in batches of 25 pairs or so running about 2 hours usually 8 to 20 hours after I stop using the computer.

Occasionally, the drives just disappear from "My Computer", but I can always see them in Disk Manager. When this occurs, I simply reboot the machine to restore access to the drives. The drives automatically start resynching and everything behaves normally.

For many months, turning off "Sleep" eliminated this problem. Recently it started happening with sleep turned off. I have not installed anything other than Windows updates.

Warnings
Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort1, was issued.
source: storahci

The IO operation at logical block address 12c10d68 for Disk 0 was retried.
source: disk
(The logical block address changes)

What should I be looking at?

System Specs
Asus P9x79 pro i7-3930 64gb 2x512 Samsung 830s, 2x1TB Cavier Black, EVGA GTX650, Seasonic x750, Corsair H80, HAF XM, 2x Blu-ray burners, HT Omega eClaro, ATI AT602, Klipsch DD 5.1, Polk Monitor Series II 40s, Polk PSW10

Thanks,

j

Sounds like the raid card (System) is crashing causing it to restart. Have you tried updating your raid drivers? If its part of your mother board then it would be part of the motherboard driver(s).

You should have set up raid 1 in the raid bios, the windows software setup will give you problems and doesn't run as fast as the hardware raid.
