Maximum PC

Hi all!!!
I have a Dell Optiplex 745 Form Factor. It currently has a Intel(R) Celeron(R) 1.60Ghz CPU. For my use, this is quite slow. According to the users guide, the Small Form Factor can accept a Intel Pentinium 4, Pentinium D, Celeron, or a Core processor. (User Guide: http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshoo ... ag/JNFQVD1 ) My question is this: Would it be possible to put a Core 2 Duo in my Optiplex? I can get the Duo out of a computer that just died on me. I believe the Duo is a 2.8Ghz. Would it hurt if I were to try it?

It depends on the CPU and the motherboard. If it's an early Core 2 Duo motherboard and a late Core 2 Duo processor, you'll need a BIOS update (though this may not guarantee anything).

But yeah, wouldn't hurt to try.
