Tried searching a few places, not having any luck.
Clean install of Win7 x64 a few months ago.
Just bought the Win8 upgrade for $40 (last day to do it is today) and installed it on the same drive.
Drive is a 256 GB SSD by OCX - I had to shrink the Win7 partition 50 GB then left it unallocated and let Win8 installer format the space.
After messing around a bit in Win8 I went to book back to Win7 and it hung on the windows logo (animation stopped). Forced restart same thing so on third try I let windows recovery have a try and it ran for a while then said couldn't fix anything. Next boot cycle it didn't hang but stayed on the animated windows logo for over a minute then finally booted into Win7. Before last night my Win7 boot time was around 17 seconds... now it's well over a minute???
I still have ~100 GB free on the Win7 partition... I'm not understanding what got screwed up. The only things I did just prior to installing Win8 was disable system restore, delete restore points, disable hibernation, disable memory dump and run disk cleanup so that the shrinkable space on the drive was increased. But on restart after those changes and before shrinking it booted fast.
Very annoyed with this. Thanks in advance for any advice!
