I'm putting together my first build and i'm running into some problems. I built it out of the case first and when i shorted the power pins, all the fans turn, hard drive spins, and DVD drive works, but when i plug it into the TV i'm getting no signal. I don't have my system speaker so i can't hear any beeps. The case is coming tomorrow and it has a system speaker, so i'm thinking about waiting for that, any one have any ideas though?

Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A-DS3
Processor: AMD FX-6100
GPU: XFX Radeon HD-7850
Memory:Crucial Ballistis 8gb (2X4)

Yes. Wait for your case and build it properly. You could have missed some power connection somewhere; the motherboard could've been slightly warped; something may not be properly seated; shorting the power pins certainly didn't help: point is, while I understand your eagerness to get this built, you really need to be thorough and methodical when making your first build.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I had the same problem with an older Gigabyte motherboard just a few months ago. It turned out that merely installing a discrete graphics card does not disable the onboard video chip. You need to hook the monitor (or TV) to the onboard video connector on the motherboard, go into the BIOS, then go into the Advanced BIOS features section, and change the value of the "Init Display First" section from the default of "PCI Slot" to "PEG", then save the new BIOS setting and change the video cable connection from the onboard video connector to your video card's appropriate connector and see if you get a signal. I hope this helps.

You did hook the power cables up to the video card and to the CPU PWR headers right?
