I have an HP Pavilion 764x that is about a year old and have had no problems with it until 2 days ago. I shut it off for the evening and the next time I powered it up, the blue HP screen would come up then it would go to the opening Windows screen...then back to the blue HP screen....then I would get a message that the machine lost power or was interrupted. It would say that I had a couple of different choices..."safe mode", "safe mode with command prompt", "safe mode with navigation (I think)", "start windows normally", "start windows at last known good configuration". The start windows normally and start at last know config options don't work as they just go to a blue HP screen and then back to this message.
I have become so frustrated that I have used the HP system recovery tool and have reverted back to when I got the machine, but it has happened 4 times in the last 2 days and I am now afraid to turn off my machine or restart it for any reason.
I have updated windows with the latest downloads, ran a spyware program and checked the entire computer for viruses and nothing comes up. The only thing I have added lately is a linksys router and wireless notebook adapter, but everything was fine.
Does anyone have a clue what I can do to prevent this from happening again? I am desperately in need of assistance and don't have a clue how to fix this.
