I have 2 PCs connected to a Linksys WRT54G router. On the older one, I can send stuff fine, but on the new one, it doesn't work right. I can browse the internet and everything, but I can't connect to Mirc servers, I can't load game server lists, I can't conenct to Itunes radio network. It's like I can recieve info, I just cant send any info. What gets me is al these things can be done on the other PC and it just recently started to have problems with this one,

Sounds like you need to open some ports for those services or configure your firewall(s) to allow the traffic.

And I say plural with the firewall because this may be on the router, on the computer (like the XP firewall and ZA), or both.

I dont think I have a firewall, but is there any way to check? and if so how wud i turn it off (besides the build in one for windows under network conenctions - that one is turned off for me). Also, i doubt its that router because like I said the other computer does these things fine and its conected to a firewall

you have 2 PCs on the network, and one can run servers, the other can't?

This should be something you should be running as it is. Reguardless though, this should be something that you know you have or not.

And yet you don't know you're running a firewall or not...

Anyhow, those ports are specific by IP. so it'd make sense that one works, but one does not. Again, that doesn't rule out the possibility of either port forwarding or a firewall.

I would highly suggest getting in touch with the manufacturer of the router or at least refer to some manual on how to do that with whatever brand you have as to how to do this.
