Maximum PC

Hello, my hp laptop has very bad audio problems when playing any kind of audio file(dvd,mp3,online video,cds,etc). When watching
any audio file sound will sudenly garble or distort and computeer will freeze for 10 to 15 seconds, and then it just goes back to normal only to do it again an hour later or so. I have tried everything from uninstalled and re-installed sound drivers,contacted hp tech support, reinstalled windows 7, even upgraded to windows 8. Nothing has worked, I don't know what else to try.
