Problems with HP Photosmart 5510 printer !!!!
Replaced all 4 ink cartridges in printer but the BLACK cartridge fails to operate correctly. Printer appeared to be fine before I replaced the cartridges.
All the colour cartridges are fine. The only way I can get the black to work is if I grey shade the text, then it is fine too, but it will not work on just BLACK.

I have tried all the 'fix it' remedies that come with the printer and have even tried replacing the BLACK ink cartridge.

It's really frustrating as the printer was only days out of the warranty when this fault was recognised.

I would be grateful for any suggestions on how to fix the problem.

Have you tried to uninstall the driver, reboot the machine and reinstall the latest drive, this may help.

The printer should be able to print status and test pages directly from the front panel without relying on the driver installed in the computer. If the test pages have the same issue then you may be looking at a firmware or hardware issue with the printer.

Do a firmware update as the above poster suggested, then download the newest driver and install it after uninstalling the old driver.
