A while back i notice that my add remove programs wasnt working or most of the things in my control panel..so i dl panda antivirus to try to remove any virus that i had. Well after i scanned it and restarted the computer a error came up saying that i was missing my system32.exe or
C:WINDOWS/System32/system32.exe or sumthing like that. So i dl another virus scanner and that got rid of that message but my control panal still dont work..add remove progams..my properties..basically everything that i guess system32 runs. And i found that their was a virus in the first virus scanner i dl. Panda anti virus..But i couldnt remove it manually and i couldnt find a un-install in the program file. So if anybody can please help that would be much aprreciated.

thankyou

sounds like your computer is pretty much hosed. others may have more clever ways of dealing with this situation, but if it were up to me, I would just format my hard drive clean and re-install windows.

man...without knowing exactly what viruses you had, you'd be hard pressed to find the manual repairs that are needed to be done...which might not be worth the effort.

For the sake of your sanity, I would suggest just reinstalling if this was 9x/ME or running a repair if this was 2000/XP.

If you have the Windows XP CD, you can begin the setup and installation process. At a certain point it scans the computer for existing installations. At this point it gives an option and chance to do a repair on the existing installation. This might fix the problem and save you some grief. It kills all the system files required by windows and reinstalls them straight from the CD.

If this does not work, go into the Recovery Console and type "chkdsk /r" without the "" marks. This will check the system and has many times saved me from reinstalling windows.
