My new computer, which my friend "Jack" made, shows my Seagate Barracuda SATA hard drive in the secondary position instead of in the primary position. I also have a DVD-RW burner and a CD-RW burner, both IDE. The CD burner shows up ok. Nothing shows up in the primary position in the BIOS. Is this setup typical for a SATA drive or did Jack goof up ? Thanks for your time.
Steve

How is it showing up as secondary? (In the BIOS? In Windows?)
How is the drive connected to the computer? (SATA cable? IDE cable + adapter?)
Would you trust Jack's technical skills farther than you could throw him?

AFAIK, Jack is a competent PC tech. It is showing up as secondary in the BIOS. The drive is conected by a SATA cable. The computer works fine as it is, I am just curious why it doesn't show up as primary in the BIOS. There is only 1 hard drive in the machine. Does SATA mimic RAID at all ?
