Here's a funny little quirk.
I reloaded my system last night (Clean Install) with XP Pro. I loaded just the bare essentials with the required drivers and windows update so I could get a nice Ghost Image before the deterioration starts. After loading Norton System Works 2004 (just the Antivirus, Ghost, and Speed Disk), I went to change my paging file from 1.49 Gig on my C:\ drive to 128-512 on my C:\ drive. I of course hit the "Set" button and it even said on that screen 128-512 on the C:\ drive. Well on reboot it still came up 1536 Meg. I checked and the settings were still 128-256 but said "Currently Allocated" 1536 Meg. I changed it to 256-512. Rebooted, still the same thing. For shits and giggles I booted in safe mode and low and behold the it said "Currently Allocated" 256. I rebooted normally and it went back to 1536. I disable my Norton Antivirus and said not to start on startup and again it went to 256. After a several reboots with Norton Antivirus on and off it is clear that it is the culprit. Now, however, I cannot find a cure. I didn't try uninstalling Norton yet and then change the paging file because I really didn't want to have an uninstall on my system. Any ideas???

Why would you want such a small page file?

IMO you should just let windows handle the page file size...

In any case, you could always use AVG

I dont care for Norton's current batch of programs.

OK, I see that AVG seems pretty respectable but what about Ghost? If you don't purchase the Utilities what do you use for imaging your drives??
