Customer deleted, possibly formatted, windows and program files folder on 98SE machine. Upgraded to XP, thats why im not sure if he formated first or not. He had someone else do it, they forgot to backup his email. I told him i could try and search for the file(s) if it hasnt already been overwritten. Anyways, got a few diff file recovery programs and thought id give it a shot. Get me in good with him, hes my mechanic, hehe.

Wondering where Outlook 2000 stores its folder that you create. I think I found where, but im not sure. Where Im lookin (user/localsettings/app data/micrsoft/outlook) it has a couple files listed there, and it looks like the bigger of the 2 is where everything is stored. He had prolyl 20 folders listed under his inbox. I know where to look with OE cuz i used to use it, but not sure with Outlook 2000.

Thanks for any info!

I had done this a while back on my own PC, and all I can remember is that they were dbx files. So...

I did a quick google on "dbx" "recover" and the first page was this:
http://www.pcworlddownload.com/system-u ... covery.htm

I'm dead tired and will drop in tomarrow to see if I can actually help at all.

I won't address a default location of these. Depending on how it was set, it could be anywhere.

Just do a search for all the .pst files on his system and then open them up one by one. If it's still there, it'll be in one of those.

.dbx files are for OE, not the full blown Outlook. Outlook uses .pst files for email messages and contact list, but i'm not sure about the calendar.

It's all the same place.

Now if you're using an exchange server, what's been said is not totally accurate.
