i am having a problem with a computer that is plagued with adware and popups and whatnot, and in add/remove programs there is a program called "WinShow." I typed this in at google to find what i thought itd be, the culprate to the owners comp. Although i have found many remedies online such as:
http://www.spyany.com/program/article_s ... nshow.html
http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/Winshow.html
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/av ... nshow.html

but none of the dos prompts, registry changes, or downloads have been effect, there weren't any reg keys that symantec noted and the download stated that WinShow was no longer on the computer. Does anyone know what the problem still is ?

hah, i think i got that problem before and i got rid of it by turning off system restore. im using winxp as my primary o/s. i think its more of a virus than a spyware. if you dont have an anti-virus i recommend AVG. AVG is really good and gets rid of alot of viruses but somehow, it was pretty hard getting rid of winshow. there are many types of winshow gargbage too.

try scanning your comp with AVG and if AVG doesnt get rid of it, try turning off system restore, reboot computer, enable system restore once you get into windows, and then scan your comp for the winshow garbage again. good luck

Run your spyware programs in Safe Mode.
