Maximum PC

Hi, and Help,
My optical drive has stopped reading/ripping audio CDs, but still works fine with data discs. The drive will start ripping and after a few seconds it says error on all the tracks to be ripped. Same problem with several different ripping programs. I've not played any of the discs on the Sony BMG rootkit list. I've bought a new drive, a new cable, and reinstalled the OS. No luck. I'm running Vista Ultimate SP2 with SATA drives. Onboard audio on Mobo, if that makes any difference. Any help is appreciated.
