I bought a Zotac Zbox Nano AD10-U as an HTPC, and placed some kingston ram and a Kingston SSDNow ms100 mSata drive (with adapter) inside.

But when I attempt to install Windows (Win7 Home premium 64bit), after the initialization it asks me for a CD/DVD driver, and no matter what I do, I can't get it to recognize any discs with the driver. First I made a bootable USB drive, and placed the drivers and Win7 on it, then separated the two. And now after buying a USB Dvd drive, the same error(I switch to the Zotac driver disc when it prompts me to remove Win7 but it will not even acknowledge the discs existence).

Help? I have gone far too long without getting this thing to work (I bought the initial box a month ago).

For clarity, are you saying it does not recognize the CD Drive (disc) or the hard drive (disc)? Not sure from your post.

Did you call Zotac for help and support? Not that we can't help, but their live chat is actually very good.

It does not recognize the Driver disc when I put it in the DVD drive.

I am able to run the Win7 install tool normally up until then.

It could be something simple like a bad driver disk, Like kleinkinstein said, give them a call.

You dont happen to be trying to boot and load windows from the USB 3.0 ports do you? I ran into an issue last year building a m-atx system for my bro, it would come to a halt and not go further, asking for drivers etc much like you are seeing. The solution was to install using the 2.0 ports. If you have not given that a try might be worth it.

I'm confused...at what point during the install does this happen?

I'm thinking that sometihng to do with the media would flag immediately on startup...

Nope

It initializes without any issue, asks for the initial couple of prompts, and than says that it requires additional pylons CD/DVD drivers. And then does not recognize any sort of install media.

Have you tried to use a usb floppy drive to install the cd driver?

Have you tried to return the box to is original configuration and see if you can install the original operating system? You may have an incompatibility issue creeping in by changing hardware and os.

The box I bought is bare bones, no OS, no ODD, no HDD, and no RAM. I am using a USB DVD drive.

Does the ssd drive show up in the bios? Sometimes the adapters don't play nice with the system.

Does the cd drive show up in the bios?

I again think the issue is that you are using the USB 3.0 (Blue?) ports to plug the DVD drive in. Try just using the 2.0 ports for the drive.

I don't think you understand.

I use my USB DVD drive to with install disc, and it starts installing Windows 7 normally, but then the install tool asks for CD DVD drivers (even though I am installing from the drive) and It does not read any additional media placed in either the drive or USB ports.

I know what you are trying to do, what i think is happening is the GUI part of the Win7 instal does not contain or know how to use the USB 3.0 ports. I went crazy over this problem last xmas building a machine and trying to install from a thumb drive. It would ask for drivers and hault. Took me hours of trying different things before i put the drive in a 2.0 port amd viola the install went off with out a hitch. If you are not using a 3.0 port then there is a driver needed for the dvd drive. The solution then would be to build an install thumb drive.

Ok, I'll try that.

I will reply back if it works.

Thanks.

Update: My 3.0 jacks really do don't work, thanks, the problem is, is that I have 2 2.0 jacks, and 1 mouse in need of plugging in, and a USB disc drive that need 2 USB ports, and I need to install the drivers still.

How would I install the drivers to a USB key so they are recognizable by the installer?

You just put the file on the usb key and "Browse" to the driver when it is asked for. To avoid using the usb3 port, try using a usb hub, that will give you enough ports to do the deed.

It is just an extension of the port you plugged it into, it should work. Borrow one and try it, what have you got to loose?
