I have a CD burner & a DVD burner in my machine. When I was just looking through the event manager, I noticed that periodically it will report an error paging to my CDROM... why is it trying to page to my burner?! Anyone else experience this problem?

TIA,
Bill

Did a Google in Microsoft's data base and came up with this article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... duct=winxp

One of the fixes says to check and see if your cd-rom is compatable with the operating system.

I was having a similar problem and installed the latest bios and chipset drivers from the manufacture of the motherboard and NOT the people that made the chipset on the motherboard.

The 1 drive is a TDK VeloCD, the other is a generic DVD burner. My mobo is an asus P4T-533C with the latest Bios update... which isn't really very recent... asus doesn't update the bios anymore once they come out with a newer board :/

Did you go to the Asus site and get the latest chipset drivers and load them? Did you update the firmware in your optical drives?

i don't know who actually made the dvd burner, it's generic. The TDK drive is fairly old, and they haven't updated the firmware on it in quite awhile. I've got the latest firmware. The asus board is a P4T-533C, and they haven't updated it's bios in quite awhile... i'm running the latest.
