I have Win 7 installed on my new SSD and one of my 4 hard drives. If I installed VLC Player onto one of the OTHER drives (I already have it on the SSD, C drive), would running this version of VLC Player off the other hard drive free up workload for my C drive, SSD??? The media is also on the same drive as the VLC Player.

I'd like to do it to all my other hard drives. If I want to watch any media on that drive, I would use the VLC Player I have installed on THAT drive and NOT the one installed on the SSD. Is it worth it?

Yes, but why do you care? SSDs degrade with writes, not reads.

Hmmmmm....did not know that.

Still, I'm not thinking long term like, this will make my SSD last longerr. I'm thinking of.....hopefully, the power of the SSD I would be saving at the time by playing VLC Player off say the E drive where on the E drive the media resides.

I suppose. But minimal. You can save the most power by shutting off the machine and picking up a book.

You're concerned about SSD power consumption? Reading from an SSD will consume like <1W. Reading from an HDD will consume 5W-7W.

So you're not really saving much in regards to total system consumption. You're actually better off just watching on a DVD/Blu-Ray player.
