I can't figure this out at all. I got a trojan the other day, it was minor but the thing deleted notepad.exe. I got it back but now when I try to view the source of any webpage I get an error that says :

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.

The title of the error window is just "notepad". I checked the Folder Options control panel and cant find anything related to this. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

You got a Trogan? Oh, let me guess - IE? ;)

Actually, I'm not sure if you can get it back. Looks like the Notepad file location might have been hard coded into IE for some reason. Here is a work around, in IE, that I think is better anyways though. Go download a real html editor like textpad, crimson editor, jext, or something else. Under tools > internet options change the html editor part to Textpad (or whatever you happen to like). Now the 'view source' feature probably won't work still (the hard coded thing), but on the menu bar, you should have an icon near the end of a little window with a pencil - click it and the html source should show up in textpad. HTH's.

It must have been from IE. Is there a way to avoid them, or are you suggesting using something other than IE? :D

Im gonna give that a try, it sounds hopeful. Thanks.

My instructions above were to fix IE, but if you're asking what browser I recommend - it would be Firefox (or just about anything besides IE). The 'view source' feature in Firefox is much nicer than the default notepad configuration in IE btw.
