Maximum PC

I recently upgraded my computer (new mobo, memory, cpu / cooler and some extra fans). I also went from Windows XP to Windows 7 or so I thought. I bought a "Windows 7 Ultimate retail copy" off Ebay last year. Big mistake. It's a pirated copy and it looks like the real deal, but not. Anyway, I have to buy a legitimate store box. So I already have windows 7 installed. I did a clean install. I plan on buying the Ultimate 7 Upgrade box. But would I be required to re-install windows xp, then 7 or is there a work around like in cmd where I can add the new windows 7 serial number and be done with it? I'm using an SSD for windows and my second HDD is where I store all my other stuff. It's also the drive on which I had Windows XP installed. I haven't deleted the system files off that drive yet either. This has left me very frustrated. I hope you guys can help me with this.

all you have to do to change your product id key is
go to the windows key used to be start key
right click my computer on the program list
hit properties
at the bottom there where it says Windows Activation there is a line that says
CHANGE PRODUCT KEY its a click-able link
click click
change your key to a valid one
keep you stuff the way you have it
now me personally I wouldn't trust that fake copy
But I'm paranoid like that, no telling when the borg sleeper cell wakes up
and starts sending my information to the Eastern Europe hacker that produced the
fake copy in the first place. But, you wanted a way to change the key, there it is.
