When I first got the 13" MacBook Pro, it came with the default 4GB of RAM, but I decided to buy 3rd party RAM and upgrade it to 8GB.
http://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-Vengeance ... B006EWUOL8

I used it for about two months without any problems. Recently, I started playing CS:GO and within 5 minutes every time, the computer will freeze with artifacts on the screen. I ran CS:GO in OSX as well as Windows through bootcamp and it's the same for both. I also tried the Unigen Heaven Benchmark under OSX and the same thing happens.

I took out the 3rd party RAM, and replaced it with the Apple RAM, and the crashing stopped. So, I decided to test the Corsair RAM a stick at time to see if they would crash. I tested both Corsair sticks by themselves, and it did not crash. I also paired one Corsair stick with one Apple stick, for both Corsair sticks, and the crashes also did not happen. The crashes only happen when both Corsair sticks are inside the computer, and only during gaming.

Next, I decided to run memtest to test out the sticks. In Memtest 3.5b, I tested the Apple RAM for 2.5 hours and the Corsair RAM for 3 hours and counting, so far no errors.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Ack! I always get either Crucial or G.Skill SO-DIMMS for CrAPPLE upgrades. All others are unproven and too often wonky. Can you return and upgrade to either an 8GB or 16GB pair that is verified to work?

I got PNY's for my Macbook Pro. It seemed to work just fine.

Must be an older McB, right? I've had good luck with PNY a few times on some of the older machines. The new hardware is so friggin finicky! Purposely the conspiracy theorists tell me.

1. You should have just used memtest86 4.0a as it is 64bit (the only 64bit I might add) and tested 8Gb in place. But the fact both passed probably indicates it is not RAM.

2. I'd guess based upon symptoms it is your graphics. I assume onboard. What is the "GPU?"

3. Is the BIOS setup to share "video RAM" automatically?

4. See if there is a BIOS update for the notebook.

This is an Apple computer. Good luck with the above, except the second point.
